It all began…
over a leather jacket. The Crips commandeered two RTD Busses and made a surprise attack on Centennial High School during lunch. Their targets were 16 young men from Piru Street. Hundreds of Crips jumped the fence and beat up everyone they saw. They robbed all the leather coats they saw on the campus.
The retaliation…
was immediate and painful to any Crip left at the school. The Piru Boys were all athletes and extremely competitive. They would never be caught off guard like this again.
This one event…
Shaped many generations that emerged under constant pressure. A war had begun and all efforts to stop it have been temporary at best. But like many feuds, this rivalry is now worldwide and very dangerous.
